Problem with video driver and 6 R2 |

I'm currently performing an upgrade from TRIM Context 5.2.4 to TRIM Context 6 R2 SP1. A problem occurs when opening the TRIM Client, on their SOE, one of 2 things happen: - I receive an error dialogue box, "The IALMRNT5 display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality". The display then reverts to 640x480 resolution or
- The PC "locks up" and reboots without warning.
I then tried another PC within same network with the same result. I then installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 on that PC and encountered the same problems as detailed above.
I've tested the TRIM Context 6 R2 SP1 Client on identical hardware with Windows Vista installed and cannot reproduce the problem. The PC's all seem to be above the minimum specs shown on TRIMInstall.pdf. Apparantly this is a known issue when using Intel graphics cards.
There are a number of solutions to fixing this problem - you just need to determine which is best suited to your particular environment: - Use the default Windows graphics driver
- Download the latest drivers from the Intel website to resolve this (drivers from Jan/Feb 08 fix the issue, but these newer drivers are only available for newer graphics chipsets) . If they have an older chipset, they may not be able to easily fix this with just the latest drivers.
- Turn the hardware acceleration down just one notch at a time to see which setting achieves the desired result. You should then untick ‘Enable write combining’. (See screenshot)
